Greenwich, CT Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts, the parent company of Martin Lawrence Galleries, has loaned a Marc Chagall original painting to the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT. The painting, La fenetre dans le ciel (Window in the Sky), belongs to the private collection of David and Leslee Rogath, owners of Martin Lawrence Galleries.
The Chagall painting is one of several pieces from the Rogath collection being loaned to the Bruce Museum for its two-part exhibition, Pleasures of Collecting. The exhibition features works from the private collections of Greenwich residents. The first part features a survey of art before 1900, and is currently on view through early January, 2003. The Chagall piece will be featured in Part II of the exhibit, which will spotlight twentieth century and contemporary art, along with other pieces that the Rogaths are lending; La Pousette by Picasso, Festa by George Tooker, Conquerant by Rene Magritte, Black Flower in Seventeen by Alexander Calder, Spanish Dancer by Joan Miro, and Reds by Mark Rothko.
