Greenwich, CT The iconic Parisian street scenes of artist Liudmila Kondakova will be displayed in the French Consulate in San Francisco as part of their French Heritage Day celebration.
Following a tradition in France, in which citizens celebrate the arts and places of France, the French Consul General in San Francisco will open his home to host French Heritage Day on Saturday September 18, 2004. The Consul General and his wife met Ms. Kondakova at a reception of her artwork in the Martin Lawrence Galleries location on Geary Street in San Francisco in late 2003. When they were planning this year’s French Heritage Day, they asked Ms. Kondakova if she would exhibit some of her paintings, depicting romantic street scenes of Paris, in the consulate for the weekend.
Ms. Kondakova is one of only two artists given this prestigious opportunity, and several of her most popular prints will be on display there. The Consulate will also offer a musical presentation, and they expect several hundred visitors. French Heritage Day is a major event in France, drawing millions of visitors to France’s historic and legendary public and private buildings, which are not normally available for public access.
Martin Lawrence Galleries, one of America’s foremost publishers of contemporary fine art prints and sculpture, represents a number of today’s most popular artists from around the world, such as Fanny Brennan, Erté, Kerry Hallam, Liudmila Kondakova, Thomas McKnight, and Bruce Ricker.
