As one of the world’s most recognized fashion photographers, Francesco Scavullo captured on film some of the most famous personalities of the 20th century. Acknowledged to be the dominant photographic influence on American fashion and beauty, his lighting technique and impeccable artistry created evocative portraits that defined an era. Martin Lawrence Galleries is very pleased to present SONG, a photographic portfolio comprised of ten hand-toned and hand-numbered silver gelatin prints, featuring some of the most recognized icons of the music worldMick Jagger, Luciano Pavarotti, Cher, Ravi Shankar, Bernadette Peters, Janis Joplin, Deborah Harry, Sting, Diana Ross and Lena Horne. The edition size of the portfolio is strictly limited to 150 (outside of 45 AP’s for collaborators, museums and foundations), the sheet paper is 20” x 24” unframed and each print, authenticated and stamped with the imprimatur of the Scavullo Foundation, is hand-signed and numbered on verso by Sean Byrnes, Scavullo’s long-time editor and collaborator.
SONG will premiere in all ten of the Martin Lawrence Galleries locations across the country in August, 2005 New York City, Boston, Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, Maui, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans and Dallas.
